Back in March 2022, Bulgari wowed the world with the Octo Finissimo Ultra, taking the crown for the thinnest watch in the world. That record only lasted a few months, until July 2022, when Richard Mille released the UP-01 Ferrari, which was 0.05mm thinner. Bulgari decided to come back with an answer this year and is again taking the crown for the thinnest watch in the world. At 1.70mm thick, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC is 0.1mm thinner than the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra and 0.05 thinner than the RM. Bulgari is reusing the same BLV180 as the Ultra and achieved the new thinness by reworking the watch’s sapphire crystal. They are still using the caseback, made of tungsten carbide, a hard and dense material, as a mainplate for the movement. The Ultra COSC comes in titanium and is limited to 20 pieces. Bulgari also offers a 1.80mm version in Platinum, which is not a small feat, given how difficult that material can be to work with.
