The Girard-Perregaux Laureato might not be as famous as the Nautilus, Royal Oak, or Overseas. Still, with its octagonal bezel on a round base culminating in the angular tonneau case, the Laureato has a timeless design.
The original Laureato was crafted in 1975 by Adolfo Natalini, an internationally acclaimed Italian architect and professor at the University of Florence. This iconic timepiece was named after the 1967 movie The Graduate, adding a touch of intrigue to its history.
The new 42mm Laureato in Pink Gold with Ultramarine Blue and Sage Green dials showcases a beautiful play between polished and satin-finished surfaces. The case measures 42mm across, 49.1mm lug-to-lug length, and 10.68mm thick. As a sports watch, it also has a water resistance of 50 meters.
The dial is adorned with a Clous de Paris (hobnail) pattern, pencil-shaped gold-plated markers, and hour and minute hands. The date is displayed at 3 o’clock in white numerals on a color-matching background.
Both the Sage and Ultramarine Blue come on a pink gold bracelet. However, the blue version is also available on a blue alligator strap and an extra rubber strap in the same color.
Both watches run on the in-house caliber GP01800-0004, a self-winding movement with a 54-hour power reserve.
