Mido has introduced a truly unique timepiece, a 999-piece limited edition of its Multifort TV Big Date watch. This special edition features a dial that draws inspiration from the iconic Philips circle pattern test card, commonly used to test TV broadcast signals in Europe and Australia in the 20th century.
The dial has an intricate texture, thanks to Mido’s use of differently sized four-faceted pyramids to create a visual impression of movement.
The dial remains legible in part due to circular and trapezoidal hour markers, all filled with Super-LumiNova. The S01E01 remains true to the original design, with an instantaneously changing Big Date window at 12 o’clock and a stainless steel case mixing brushed and polished surfaces. The stainless steel bracelet is satin-finished.
The Multifort TV Big Date is powered by the Mido automatic Caliber 80, a movement based on the ETA C07.651. This automatic movement boasts a power reserve of 80 hours and features a Nivachron balance spring for enhanced anti-magnetism. A transparent case back reveals a côtes de Genève-decorated winding rotor.
The Multifort TV Big Date S01E01 ships in a collector’s box and is accompanied by two additional rubber straps in yellow and turquoise blue.
