Japanese manufacturer Seiko introduced the Seiko 5 line in the 1960s and named it for its five design principles: automatic movements, water resistance, a day-date display, general durability, and approachable design. Today, Seiko is introducing three references in the Seiko 5 family that pay homage to the original SNXS design: the SRPK87 (blue dial), SRPK89 (black dial), and SRPK91 (ivory dial). Seiko said “EDC” or “Everyday carry” inspired those references. Each comes on a steel bracelet, features day and date complication, a 100m of water resistance, and a four o’clock crown. Unlike the SNXS, which were powered by the 7S26 movement, these are powered by the 4R36 caliber, with 41 hours of power reserve and hacking seconds visible behind a see-through case back. The case size is 37.4mm, with a lug-to-lug of 44.7mm. The height of the case comes in at 12.5mm. These watches have a magnetic resistance rated at 4,800 A/m, meaning they meet the ISO 764/DIN 8309 requirement for anti-magnetism in a watch. The crystal is Hardlex, not Sapphire.
