Patek Philippe World Time 5330G

Launched as a limited edition in June 2023, the Reference 5330 is now a regular part of the Patek Philippe collection with a blue-grey dial.

The Patek Philippe World Time was introduced in the 1930s and based on an invention by watchmaker Louis Cottier. Since the early 1950s, this watch has let you simultaneously see the time in 24 time zones. Two rotating disks (one for cities and one for 24 hours) show the global time, while traditional hands display the local time (chosen city at 12 o’clock).

Introduced in 2000, the Reference 5110 used a revolutionary complication that allowed to simultaneously adjust all time zones (city disc, 24-hour disc, and center hour hand) in one-hour increments with a single button press and without compromising the accuracy of the minutes and seconds.

Patek Philippe is now bringing a date display to the World Time. However, the manufacture didn’t stop there and linked the date display to the local time, meaning it would move forward and backward with the center hour hand.

The date is displayed by a red lacquer “hammer-shaped” hand that circles a printed scale from 1 to 31 along the dial’s beveled edge. To avoid disturbing the legibility, Patek uses a transparent hand made of glass, which is a first for them.

The 5330G features a 40mm x 11.57mm case in polished white gold. The blue-grey opaline dial showcases a carbon pattern, and the watch is powered by the Patek Caliber 240 HU C movement introduced in the limited edition 5330G for last year’s Tokyo Edition. The watch also comes on a very casual denim-style strap.
