After announcing the SBGH347 Icefall in September of this year, Grand Seiko is introducing a larger and lighter version of the watch, the SBGH349 Icefall, still powered by a Hi-Beat movement.
While sharing a similar aesthetic, the SBGH347 and SBGH349 have fundamental differences.
First, the original Icefall was crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, while its recent counterpart utilizes high-intensity titanium for the case and bracelet.
Both models offer 100m water resistance and sapphire crystals on both sides of the case.
The dial’s irregular vertical pattern and ice-blue color evoke the Nanataki waterfall near Mt. Iwate and the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi in northern Honshu, Japan’s main island. It features polished, beveled hands and markers and a framed date window.
The watch’s Calibre 9S85 is a high-frequency movement operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour and offering a 55-hour power reserve.
The 40mm Grand Seiko Icefall SBGH349 Titanium will join the permanent collection on January 1st, 2025, and retail for USD 7,400.
