Today, Omega updated the Omega Speedmaster Moonphase with two meteorite dials. The moon phase indicator shows the northern and southern hemisphere phases and is made of lunar meteorite cabochons. This update goes beyond the dial with a thinner stainless steel case measuring 43mm by 13.6mm, a new in-house manual movement Caliber 9914 with 60 hours of power reserve, and a tapered bracelet 21/16mm with polished and brushed links and micro adjust.
The black version has a PVD-coated meteorite dial with 18K white gold hands and hour markers. Meanwhile, the gray one has a galvanic gray-coated meteorite dial on a blue PVD-coated base and 18K gold hands treated with a blue PVD coating. Both watches have a ceramic bezel insert with a white enamel tachymeter scale. The 3 o’clock subdial tracks the chronograph’s running minutes and hours. The date indicator is at 9 o’clock. The stars in the moon phase subdial are positioned as seen on the day of the moon landing (July 21st, 1969), in the Omega’s hometown, Biel, Switzerland.
The METAS-certified Master Chronometer caliber is visible through the sapphire case back.
